Titan Backup Business - a Centralized Backup Solution
Titan Backup Business is a solution for small and medium companies, that contains:
Titan Backup Business Server (a centralized web-based console)
and multiple Titan Backup Business Workstation (that run on each local or remote computer that needs to be backed up).
It allows an easy centralized web-based management for all the backup tasks inside your network. It is meant to be handled by a Network Administrator who is in charge for the backups of all the Workstations in the network.
Titan Backup Business Server can control local or remote computers (if the firewall rules allow external connections and the server has an external IP address). You can control off-site locations, by using a the Titan Backup Business Server on a domain or subdomain, and distributed Workstations that all connect to the Business Server for instructions. The best task in this scenario is a FTP backup task, or other online-storage backups.
The solution is secured by having the Workstations connect to a central server, and not opening any ports on the Workstations. Under no circumstances a third party can connect directly to the workstation. The Workstations can connect only to the designated server, and receive commands through HTTP or HTTPS. Every few seconds the Workstations connect to the server and check for commands in queue. For more security, the Server cannot browse any files on the Workstations, only issue commands.
Titan Backup Business Server doesn't need to copy the files from the Workstations to itself. It can instruct the Workstations to copy the files on any location, which may or may not be the same machine where Titan Backup Business Server was installed. The Titan Backup Business Server is only the central command center, not necessarily the storage point. Using this concept of distributed independent backup applications, you will not run out of network bandwidth on a single backup machine, as you can create several tasks and route the files to several backup machines.
Titan Backup Business Server is written in PHP, so it can run on any web server with PHP support, or any operating system. Titan Backup Business Workstation application requires Windows.
Titan Backup Business Server is delivered as an "Installation Kit for Windows" (that includes an Apache web server and a light SQL server), or as a "Source Code Package" for advanced users (that already have a web server and MySQL running on a computer/server).
