We've just released Titan Backup version 2.0.2.32.
It has a new feature for compressed backups which enables you to individually compress each file in the source. As it is a new feature, we consider it to be in a "beta" phase so if you encounter any problems with it, please report them to us. This feature will be extremely usefull for those who use FTP backups.
This version of Titan Backup also includes a few bug-fixes and optimizations. The most important of them are:
- for Sync Tasks with an Inclusion Mask a very significant optimization was done. For example if the execution of such a Task took 45 minutes now it lasts around 1:30 minutes. This optimization was not intended only for Sync Tasks with Inclusion Masks, but these gained the most out of it.
- we replaced some status messages for Sync Tasks and Backup Tasks with compression so that the program doesn't appear to be hung while more time consuming operations take place.
- we fixed a very strange bug that appeared in certain conditions while running Backup Tasks with compression (usually when the source size was several 10's of GB in size and 10's of thousands of files were in it). After several hours from the start of the Backup Task, it would end with an "Out of memory" error. Please let us know if any of you still get this error.
- for Tasks with a CD/DVD destination if the source size was larger then the available space on the CD/DVD, a message saying that you should insert the next CD/DVD was shown. We replaced it with a message that tells you how much available space you have on the disc and the amount of space required.
- for Tasks with AES encryption or with ZIP password protection when restoring if you entered a wrong archive password the Task would immediately end with an error. This was inconvenient especially for Tasks with CD/DVD or FTP destinations as the archives are first transferred to the Titan Backup's temporary folder. So if you waited a while for the archives to be transferred and then entered a wrong password you had to start restoring all over again. Now if you enter a wrong password, the dialog reappears. This happens until a valid password is entered or you click Cancel.
Everyone is encouraged to download and install this version of Titan Backup.
